ESO Bulletin – 2/23/10

Just one month ago the Griffins took flight through the skies of Pokari. While relegated to just looking pretty and acting as a transport, their true potential is finally here! Hop onto your Griffin and unleash it’s true power with the Jade of Warfare.

The skies will never be the same again as the Jade of Warfare will enable the Glide Griffin to be upgraded. You can upgrade your Griffin by using two Celestone of Speed into a Glide Griffin. You can then upgrade your Glide Griffin into a Warbeast Griffin with a Jade of Warfare. The Warbeast Griffin will be combat available in the air and it will get a bonus of accuracy 20. The Jade of Warfare is a permanent addition to the game.

Besides the release of the Jade of Warfare, the Jadeon of Soul (1 Day) and Celestone of Speed will be on sale for one week. The sale will end next Tuesday at 8:00 AM Pacific time.

Fashion Design Contest

Are you ready for a Fashion Contest? No, we will not have a catwalk in the game where you can strut around with the latest fashions. Who does that in a MMO?! This is a contest where you will design a new fashion.

After the success of the Design a Mount Contest, everybody quickly asked, can we have a Fashion Design Contest? Well the answer is yes! Just like the Design a Mount Contest, the winning entries of this contest will be submitted to the developers and they will see if they can implement it. Please note that winning entries are NOT guaranteed to make it into the game for various reasons.

So what fashion outfits do think players will design? A summer fashion that will keep you cool? Perhaps something that will make you stand out during your territory wars? Or how about a space suit in case aliens from another planet ever attack. The choice is completely yours; let your imagination run wild.

We will have two different contests, one for Male and another for Female Fashions. For each entry, you will have to design the whole outfit, meaning the headwear, body gear and shoes. The headwear can be a hairstyle, hat, or any other combination.

How to Enter:

Create your entry using any graphics program of your choice. You can even hand draw and scan the image.

You would have the 2 images, one for the front view of the fashion, and one for the Back view of the fashion. You can also include a desired animation with a description. This is NOT required and it will not increase your chances to win.

For example, if you wish to have small bats fly around the outfit, just describe that verbally, we do not want animated images.

Once you are done with your image, submit all of your images in ONE email to esoevents@perfectworldinc.com with the Subject line

Dark Notturno mount approaches

ESO Bulletin – 2/16/10

Back in October we ran a Design a Mount Contest. After going through all the entries, we came up with the winner, Monaka’s design.The art team took the design and worked on implementing the epic mount. Months later, we now have the Dark Notturno Mount!

The mount is now available in the game, and will be a permanent addition to the game. Here is a look at the image that was provided by Monaka for the mount design contest:

If you love the mount, please remember that Monaka was the one who came up with the design! We are also in the process of setting up a Design a Fashion Contest. We will have more news once we are ready to announce that event.

Lunar New Year Events

Fireworks Promotion

Lunar New Years is coming up! We are going to need fireworks to light up the skies at night to celebrate. Starting today until Monday, February 15th, everybody who transfers Zen into their ESO accounts will get free fireworks in the mail.

For every 100 Zen (1 Etherbuck) transfered into the game, you will receive 10 fireworks. There is no limit to how much you will receive.

Players will see their fireworks in their mailboxes after the event is over. Once you receive your fireworks, make sure you use it during the night time, it looks waaaaaaaaaaaaay better during the darkness

For the people who will be celebrating Lunar New Years, have a great time, for the ones who are not, just celebrate it just for the sake of a celebration!

Players will only receive 200 fireworks per day after the event is over. If you are supposed to receive more, we will send more the next day.

Lunar New Year Events

Besides the fireworks promotions, there will be various Lunar New Year Events added to the game. Here are just a couple of the major events that will be going on during Lunar New Years.

Big Surprise – All level 10 and up that log in before Feb. 14th will automatically get the quest Big Suprise, which automatically rewards the player with a Gift Pack Exchange item. When the pack is opened, it gives the player 20 After-Festival Gift Packs. The Gift Pack can only be used with a special Key” item that doesn’t become available until March 1st. On March 1st the Engineer’s Wife offers a quest that sells “20 Keys” for 1 silver. Once the Key is in the user’s inventory the lottery box can be opened for a chance to receive the following prizes:

New Wedding Fashions

With Valentine’s Day approaching, it may just be the best time for you to get married. For players who want to do so in a Western Bride and Groom outfit, now’s your chance. With the new wedding outfits, players can a wedding party with both their wedding outfits. Don’t get caught with only one wedding outfit!

The Female outfit will allow the players to perform the Star Rider dance.

The Male outfit will allow the player to perform the Hot Hot Dance.

Please note that the outfits DO NOT come with a marriage license. The fashion sets will remain in the store until Tuesday morning.

Valentine’s Day is coming! To celebrate the loving holiday, we are happy to announce TWO GM Events next week, both geared towards Valentines.

Candy Grams

For our first event, we were going through what we thought of when we think of Valentines. Besides the obvious hearts and chocolate from the day, my favorite memory of this day was Candy Grams. Unfortunately we will not be able to send Candy Grams to all our fans, but we can run a Candy Gram event.

72 Transformations Event Instructions

72 Transformations Event Instructions

The new event, 72 Transformations is now ready for players to participate in to boost their monster bond. The event happens twice a day, at 12:00 Noon Server Time to 2:00 PM Server Time and 6:00 PM Server Time to 8:00 PM Server Time.

During those times players can find a new NPC, a Monster Herald in Pokari at the coordinates 424, 524. The NPC that will spawn will be one of the random Monster families. If it is a Beastkin NPC, you would have to Transform into a Beastkin to be able to obtain a quest from him.

Each quest will have different objectives. The objectives are random and may range from having you go out to kill monsters or even just talking to a NPC.

Some quests will have you find the elders of the monster family, such as the Beastkin, Florax and Elementa Elder found outside Pokari.

The Beastkin Elder is located at 353, 640 in Gaap.

The Florax Elder is located at 876, 535 in Gaap.

You can find the Elementa Elder at 289, 462 in Gaap.

For most quests the rewards will be 10 Monster Bond with the family of monsters that you finish the quest. Some quests will also give you a Transformation Card.

Starting on February 2nd at 8:00 AM Pacific, refining items and scape monkey will be on sale. You will be able to find the Lightbender Stone, both single and 10 Pack, Stone of Peace, Scape Monkey both single and 10 pack and the Ancestral Crystal on sale.

Some Ground hog day traditions involve spotting the Ground Hog emerge from it’s burrow to check on it’s shadow. That obviously does not sound fun, so why not use some refining items to make your armor shiny, who cares about the shadow!

Just because you have new and upgraded gear doesnt mean you are invincible. Pick up some Scape Monkeys just in case you happen to meet your demise.

The sale will last for one week only.

Griffin Mount Takes Flight

The Griffins have arrived in the world of Ether Saga. Take a ride on the mystical creature that will zip through the skies. This is also the first mount that features an slight appearance change when you upgrade it with the celestone. So not can you speed it up, but you can change the looks of it!

We also have a sale on the Ginseng Fruit and Wheel of Fortune. Want to try out a different Birthday for it’s skills? The Ginseng Fruit will allow you to change it, if only you could do that in real life. The Wheel of Fortune allows players to reset their Attribute points or Element Points

Get your pets in shape

ESO Bulletin – 1/20/10

Hopefully everybody is having a good start to 2010. With one New Years passing by and Lunar New Year on the way, it’s a good time to have game fixes and improvements to the ESO world. The patch tonight will introduce some minor changes and fixes which will be listed in the patch notes.

There is also a sale on the pet melding stones. Bring out your best pets and meld them in time for your next big encounter.

The four Pet Stones, the Heavenly Mental Stone, Heavenly Physical Stone, Divine Mental Stone and Divine Physical Stone are all on sale. The sale will last until next Tuesday at 8 AM Pacific Time (Not during maintenance.)

Do you have two pets you want to fuse together but too lazy to level them both up? The discounted stones will help!

The Heavenly Physical Stone is used when you are trying to fuse two level 46 pets. The stone will make the fuse effect as if you were combining two level 75 pets. Using this on level 75 pets will not help. The stone will also increase the chance of a succesful meld and the resulting pet will keep its skills, skill slots and appearance.

Divine Physical Stone works the same as the Heavenly Physical Stone, but it is for pets that are level 61 and it acts as if you were combining two level 90 pets.

The Heavenly Mental Stone works like the Heavenly Physical Stones, but the melding is guaranteed, but the appearance is not. The new pet will remember the target pet’s skills unless its appearance changes. This is for fusing two level 46 pets and the fuse effect will be that of combining two level 75 pets.

The Divine Mental Stone works like the Heavenly Mental Stone, but it is for two level 61 pets and it will act as if you are combining two level 90 pets.

So while both the Mental Stones and Physical Stones are similar in what they do, they do have some differences. The Physical Stones increases the chance for the meld to be successful (not guaranteed) and the pet will keep their skills, skill slots and appearance if the meld is succesful. The Mental Stones meld chance is guaranteed but not the appearance.

If you are born in the year of the Tiger, it’s a must have! Just because you get to look like your own Zodiac. If you are not born in the year of the Tiger, you can still get it just to fit in with the year’s theme! Don’t miss out on this item, it will be in the game until February 2nd.

Luckily for everybody there is a male and female version of the outfit.

12K Rally

As we continue to grow our presence on Facebook, we will run more and more events to support the community there. We started with the Quiz Event, and then unleashed the Server vs. Server Competition—but that’s not all! We are happy to announce the 12K Rally!

Here’s the deal, if we reach certain milestones of total fans, we will do a drawing for the active fans. Sounds easy enough? Well there’s a time limit attached to all of this. The deadline is February 15th, end of day, right after Lunar New Years.

Everybody should be thinking, what are the prizes? We have a variety of prizes that should surely excite players.

Facebook Server EXP Competition

What is better than gaining experience on a nice weekend? How about gaining DOUBLE experience? Sounds good, doesn’t it. We will be offering one server a chance to win a weekend of double exp. Please note that the exp only applies to mob kills, not quest exp.

Yes, we said only ONE server will be getting the double exp. So how can your server, whether it’s Ancestral Ruins or Fort Phoenix earn that weekend of double exp?

Starting today, there will be two posts, one for Ancestral Ruins and one for Fort Phoenix. Whichever server has the most “Likes” by next Friday at Noon PST will be the winning server. That server will receive a weekend double EXP, starting at Friday January 15th at 5:00 PM PST and ending at Sunday January 17th at 10:00 PM PST.

ESO Bulletin – 1/6/10

We will be releasing the Topaz Disk which will enable players to reset their advance classes without losing their spirit and valor. So if you want to try out the other advance class, here is your opportunity. This item will remain in the store permanently.

Besides the Topaz Disk, we are also releasing two mounts.

To combat the players going around with the Slug Tank, the Pokari engineers have devised a new Tank, the Flame Tank! Players will probably ask, does this tank shoot? No it does not, but it makes up for that with it’s awesome look.

We can’t let the Flame tank be the only mechanical mount rolling out to the stores. We are bringing back the Robostrich. Who wants a ostrich when you can have a robot version of it.

Both of the mounts will be available until the next maintenance. The New Years outfits and sales will also remain in the store for another week.

Thank you for everybody’s participation. The pictures were hard initially but as they were expanded, players were able to find them without much trouble. Epic content patch released

ESO Bulletin – 12/15/09

The long wait for the next major content patch is finally over. This patch will have various content additions to the game. A new advanced class system, updates to the affinity system, transformation system and MANY more all packaged in a one nice patch just in time for Christmas. Read more in our patch notes.

Speaking of that, what would Christmas be without a festive decorated tree? Pokari will be decked out in Christmas decorations for the holidays!

You will probably want some fashions so you can look jolly around the tree. Check out the new items that will be added to the Repository.

You can also ride around like Santa with the new Reindeer mount.

Other than the various content updates, fashion additions, there will also be Christmas Events. Check out all of the Christmas Events in the forum post here.

Upcoming Patch Previews

The next major content patch is coming soon. Testing has been underway for the upcoming patch. While we continue to prepare the release, we have some previews in anticipation of the patch. With major changes such as Advanced Class system, Adjustments to the Affinity, Transformation System and much more, this patch will surely make your holidays more enjoyable!

* Advanced Classes – Each class will be able to choose an advanced class at level 75.
* Advanced Class Skills – Each advanced class will have their own new skills.
* Changes to Affinity System – Update to the system to make it more efficient.
* Level 75 Weapons and Armor Preview – Check out the level 75 gears that you can obtain while questing.
* Changes to Transformation System – The whole transformation system has been adjusted.

Now that Thanksgiving is over, the next Holiday to look forward to will be Christmas. While we prepare for various content for the occasion, we thought the community would enjoy a Holiday Sale.

Picture Hunt

Jino recently received three pictures of locations he must visit on his journey to the west. Unfortunately the pictures were damaged by the evil demons trying to slow him down. See if you can find out where the locations are in the pictures and visit each of them to make sure they are correct.

Event Description:

Help Jino find the three locations in the pictures and visit each of them. Not all of the locations are in the Gaap Lands, some of the locations are in Gallio Kingdom.

There will be one GM at each of the three locations. Once the event starts, the three images will be posted on the forums. Some of the pictures will be hard to see since they will be zoomed in.

After 5 minutes each picture will be zoomed out to make it easier. The picture will be zoomed out twice. The coordinates will be given to each location 45 minutes after the start of the event.

You have to find all three of the GMs and purchase one of the items they are selling. Once you find all three, make your way towards the final shop (Location will be given) and sell all three items at once to the GM.

The first 10 players who find the three GM Shops and purchase those items and then sell them to the fourth GM Shop will be the winners!

When / Where:

East Server: December 11th, Friday 2:00 PM PDT – 3:00 PM PDT (Realm 2)
West Server: December 11th, Friday 4:00 PM PDT – 5:00 PM PDT (Realm 2)

How to win:

Be one of the first 10 players to reach the buying shop run by the GM and sell him all 3 items at the same time.

Everybody else who turns in the prize by the end of the event will be entered into a random drawing as well.

Prizes:

1st: 1 Azure Pegasus Transformation Card

2nd – 4th: 1 Motley Fenican Transformation Cards

5th – 10th: 1 Fluffian Transformation Cards

Random Drawing: Sharpshooter Swinehog Transformation Card

In addition to those prizes, we have another mini event within this event happening! There will be a 4th GM that will be hidden for the whole day starting at 10:30 AM PST for both servers on Friday the 11th. That GM will be selling a Motley Fenican Pet for 5 bronze. Yes, 5 bronze!! What’s the catch?

We imagine that that GM will be extremely hard to find. Here is what you will get: One picture clue, and thats it. You can expect that the picture won’t be much help! To top it off, we will randomly hide that GM in any of the realms.

The GM will be on until 7:00 PM PST for both servers or until someone finds them. So Good luck to the lucky player who can find the GM with the Pet.

The Ether Castle is now open, ready for brave challengers to test their skills. Rally your alliance together and get ready to fight over control of the Castle. If your alliance is not ready to invade the Castle, you can still join the fight as a mercenary to help change the tide of the battle.

Other than the launch of the Ether Castle, tonight’s patch will see the release of the Ether Egg. The Ether Egg will give players a chance at 5 different items that will help you in your journeys.

The first item you see in the above table is a new item, the Glue if Vigilance. This glue will help you combine two Raw Jade of Clouds into a Crude Jade of Cloud, which will give you 2 to Accuracy. The next item in the table is a Triangle Etherlaced Crystal. This Etherlaced Crystal is stronger than any other Etherlaced Crystal in the game currently. The item in the middle is a 7 day possesor. The 4th item in the Ether Egg is 11 Angelic Bells. The last item in the Egg is the Western Fashion Pack, this will randomly give you either the male Gentleman set or female Fair Lady set. This item will be removed at the next maintenance.

We are also releasing the Jadeon of the Soul. This item lasts for 1 day and allows you to pick up items with your possessor. This will be in the store permanently.

Other than the release of the Ether Egg, we are bringing back some old boxes. While the summer heat is over, it’s a good time to bring the heat back! Or maybe you want some help from Lady Whiteskull for taking on the Ether Castle Leaders? Hopefully one of these boxes will suit your needs as we bring back both the Summer Heat Box and Lady Whiteskull’s Jewelry Box. Both of these boxes will be in the store until the next maintenance.

ESO Bulletin – 11/17/09

While it’s always good to get rid of old things, its not always true for fashion! While we don’t have any Thanksgiving outfits, we do have other fashion from that time period. Perhaps we can create a Turkey outfit for next year!

We may not have any arranged balls or banquets in game, but just in case someone decides to throw one, you have to be ready to attend in style. For the guys we have the Gentleman Outfit, and for the girls we have the Fair Lady Outfit. Don’t get caught without a formal outfit! These outfits do not have dances that give buffs.

Balls or banquets are not for you? How about dressing up as a guard to maintain order around Pokari? Try on the Royal Guard Outfit. This outfit is for guys only and does not have a special dance buff.

For the girls we have the Lotus Kimono Outfit. Who doesn’t want to look more Kawaii!! The Kimono does have a special dance, but there is no buff for it.

The Gentleman and Fair Lady outfits are permanent additions to the cash shop, while the Royal Guard and Lotus Kimono outfits will be available for two weeks.

Ether Castle Update

Ether Castle Territory War registration and initiation timeline (Realm

Registration for the Ether Castle Territory War begins. You must be the leader of a level 4 or higher alliance and have a Proof of Dominance.

- The Proof of Dominance can be obtained from a local agent after owning a territory for 48 hours.
- Each alliance leader can then bid to become the Attacking Alliance at the Ether Castle Agent (Pokari, next to Chauncy).

Each alliance will have to pay 1000 gold to place a ‘stake’ in the bid. Then, they can increase the value of their ‘stake’ by 1000 gold increments.

- The alliance with the highest value ‘stake’ will win the bid.
- If there is a tie between the ‘stake’ values of more than one alliance, the first one that increased their stake’s value will win the bid.
- If you do not win the bid, the amount will remain in the queue, and cannot be returned. However the amount stays in the queue and you can use it for next week’s bidding.

Saturday – 6:00 PM – 9:00 PM

The leader of the Attacking alliance will receive a prompt asking to open Ether Castle for war.
If the leader chooses “Cancel”, they can start the registration process again by talking to the Ether Castle Agent. The confirmation prompt will appear for the alliance leader every time they log in until they click “Confirm”.

- If the leader of the Attacking Alliance has not started the territory war by 7:00 PM, it will start automatically.
- After the Territory War has started, members from each alliance will get a prompt asking if they want to be teleported to the Ether Castle battleground.
- If they decline, they can join the battle via the Ether Castle Agent (Pokari / 459,498).
- Regular players, who are in neither of the participating alliances, can join the Territory War as mercenaries. They can enter the battle through the Ether Castle Agent NPC.
- The current Ether Castle Dominator/Defending Alliance leader can obtain “EC Friendly Pass”to give to other alliances.
- If a mercenary has an “EC Friendly Pass”, they will join the Defending alliance; otherwise they will join the Attacking alliance. Each mercenary will have a “Mercenary” tag next to their name.

During the Battle

- Each side will start on opposite sides of the map.
- The goal of the Attacking Alliance is to defeat the Protector NPC of the Defending Alliance (Zaax)

The goal of the Defending Alliance is to either defeat the Protector NPC of the Attacking Alliance (Grongon) or defend Zaax for a period of time.

- There are 3 types of resources that can be gathered by each side (Seed of Principle, Seed of Mercy and Seed of Origin)
- NPCs that give out buffs to your side can be bought with these resources.
- The Defending Alliance can build structures to generate resources. The production rate of each structure is [1 resource per 10 seconds].
- There are also four Etherstreams called Earth, Water, Fire and Wind. Destroying one will yield 1 Steam Core.
- Use the Stream Core on the defending team’s NPC, “Zaax”, to deal damage to him.

The leaders of the two sides can purchase upgrades from the “War Upgrades” window:

- Force of White Tiger: Increase Intellect
- Force of Black Tortoise: Increase Max Health
- Force of Green Dragon: Increase Critcast and Damage
- Red Phoenix Essence: Increase flight and mount speed

Possible outcomes

- If the Defending alliance wins and they still own a territory, they will keep their status as Ether Castle Dominator.
- If the Attackers win, they will become the Ether Castle Dominator.
- If a Defending/Attacking alliance did not participate, but their friendly NPCs won, then the Ether Castle remains unoccupied.
- If the Defenders win the battle, but they don’t own a territory, then Ether Castle will become unoccupied.

Other Conditions

- When the Ether Castle is not in contention, if the current Ether Castle Dominator alliance loses their territory, they will keep their Ether Castle Dominator status.
- The act of changing Alliance leader or Alliance disbanding will cause the Dominance of Ether Castle status to be lost.

Rewards:

- After successfully taking the Ether Castle, the winning Alliance will gain the title “Ether Castle Dominator.” The title will constantly change colors so players can’t miss it!
- A special Angelic Bell (ID=22191) will become available to the leader of the Dominating Alliance. This will function like a normal Angelic Bell, except their chat will appear as “[Ether Castle Dominator]XXXX: XXXXX.” To obtain this Angelic Bell, you have to trade in normal Angelic Bells.
- Write on the Heaven Crusade Order: The Leader can rewrite the Heaven Crusade Order for 3 times a day.
- All regional prizes from the 3 normal Territories is available for Ether Castle Dominator.
- More Personal Funds Daily: You can get quests from The Ethermaid of Cloud to raise your personal funds.
- Exclusive Mounts and Glide Gears for members of the Defending Alliance: [Shaolin Tiger] which can be upgraded. The Shaolin Tiger is combat available after upgrading it twice.

- Exclusive flying Mount for the Leader: [Nephilim Serpent]. You can also get the transform card of it.

- Exclusive Fashion sets for Dominating Alliance members.

As battles becoming more fierce with each passing day, the combatants are constantly looking for ways to improve their gears. Territory owners who are looking to infuse their gears can now use the new addition to the Heaven’s Repository, the Basic Rainbow Stone. This will increase the success rate of combining level 4 infuse stones or lower to 100%.

There are also sales on various items in the Repository that will last until the next maintenance. Have you been having problems with surviving? Now’s a good time to snap up some Scapemonkeys. Both the single and ten packs will be apart of the sale.

Are you looking to do some pet melding? The Heavenly Physical Stones, Divine Physical Stones, Heavenly Mental Stone and Divine Mental Stones will all be on sale as well.

The Physical Stones help increase the chance of a successful meld and the resulting pet will keep its skills, skill slots and host’s appearance. The Mental Stones will guarantee a successful meld and the new pet will remember the target pet’s skills unless its appearance changes.

ESO Bulletin – 11/4/09

Two new flying mounts is now ready to lift off from the airfields and into your control. We will be releasing two new flying mounts, the Crimson Sky Fighter and The Maverick. The mounts are not combat available, but who cares when you can fly through the skies in style.

The first mount, The Maverick will have you blasting through the skies with the technological marvel. Hop into the driver’s seat of the jet and prepare to launch your aerial raids.

The other mount, the Crimson Sky Fighter can not only be your flying mount, but can easily double as a party machine! Fly around and spark up people’s dances with your bright lights. Bring on the mobile dance parties!

Flying just got a lot more fun with these new additions to the air. Please keep in mind that the mounts may look fast, but they are not faster than your other flying mounts.
